Known as the "Ciudad de las Carreras" (Racetrack City) and the "Ciudad de los Indios" (Indian City). The first is a reference to the Hipódromo Camarero the major horse racing track on Rt 3. In addition to regular races held during the week, the track also hosts the annual Caribbean Classic. This race showcases horses from throughout the Caribbean.

Caribbean thoroughbred championship weekend. Also known as the Caribbean Derby, the event gathers thoroughbreds from such countries as Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and the Dominican Republic and is considered the richest horse race in Latin America.
